The skillfully sequenced flow of vinyasa and the open
awareness of zen meditation mutually support and build
health, personal well-being, creativity and vitality.

This retreat will explore the synergy and complementary insights and practices
of Hatha Yoga and Zen Buddhism. Together, these techniques and practices are supportive for relieving stress, maintaining health, and promoting creativity and vitality. You’ll be gently guided through each practice. Sherri Baptiste is recognized for her skill in working with all levels of ability at the same time, offering modifications to the newcomers and challenge for the experienced practitioner. Yoga classes are progressive over the weekend and are based on flowing breath based vinyasa style that encourages movement of the body with the breath. Practices build on fluidity, grace, strength, and stability. One year of Hatha Yoga practice recommended. Some meditation experience is preferable, but not essential.

Although yogic practices appear to be involved with only the physical, the body is, in reality, an aid to understanding the mind. Vinyasa-style yoga classes encourage movement of both body and breath with fluidity and grace while enhancing strength, balance, and stability. Yoga asanas cultivate the flexibility of mind and body, postural alignment, and ease in sitting that are the basis of Zen meditation. Zen practice enables inner quiet, fresh insights, and tranquility of thought, encouraging mind and body to flow as one.

One year of Hatha yoga practice recommended.
Some meditation experience is helpful, but not essential.
