The Anatomy & Physiology of Posture: with Dr. Megan Scott

Daily Asana Workshop Sessions:  Dr. Megan Scott will skillfully break down each posture in the 75-minute Baptiste breath-based flow Session II developed by Sherri Baptiste... A Workbook will be given.This dynamic and powerful Baptiste practice will give you the wisdom and understanding to harness your abilities and create powerful results, cultivating physical energy, mental clarity, and a beautiful body.
Sessions include:
• Study and breakdown of each Asana used in the Series
• Bio-mechanical knowledge and benefits of postures
• Alignment, and Sequencing
• Principles of Breath and Movement
• Human Energy System
• How to deepen practice, and work at their own level of ability,
while practicing each posture in a safe and sound way.

Dr. Megan Scott is a dedicated student of yoga. She has extensive training with many great master teachers, including Walt Baptiste and John Friend, bridging the power and benefits of both East and West. She has a Ph.D. in both clinical Psychology, and Exercise Physiology, and holds certifications in Biofeedback Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Sports Rehab Specialist, and Yoga Therapy. Dr. Megan Scott is an expert in exercise physiology, sports rehabilitation and clinical psychology.

The Philosophy of Consciousness: with Ravi Nathwani

Join us for philosophical lectures, and daily group discussions on the Yoga Tradition. Sessions with Ravi will offer inquiry, questioning, and sharing in a thought-provoking interactive, and accessible way. Sessions will provide the participants with opportunities to awaken new dimensions of understanding, joy, interest, and empowerment.

Ravi Nathwani was raised in a conservative Vaishnav Hindu family where Hindu rituals were integrated into daily life from a very young age. As a child, Ravi regularly engaged in morning walks with his father that ended with the traditional satsang, occasionally led by luminaries like Swami Sivananda, Swami Ramdas and others. By the age of seven, Ravi was being trained in the Hatha Yoga tradition and has had a daily practice since 1981. Before moving to the United States Ravi studied the writings of Swami Vivekananda, Swami Sivananda and other spiritual Masters of Hindu philosophy and regularly attended discourses on the Bhagavad Gita by Swami Chinmayananda and lectures by J. Krishnamurti. Ravi continues to follow in his family's spiritual traditions and has become a modern day messenger of a variety of Vedic studies through his lectures and workshops. Most recently, Ravi has been a faculty member of both Tufts University and Tufts University Experimental College in Boston, MA where he teaches such courses as "Hindu Yoga & Buddhist Meditation", "Vedanta & The Upanishads", "Karma & Relationships" as well as lectures on the Bhagavad Gita and the teachings of J. Krishnamurti.

• Daily  5:30 - 6: pm Introduction to the Bhagavad Gita (30 minute discussion each day) welcomes the entire retreat group to join in.

Things to know:
• (Afternoon sessions will be held daily during retreat "afternoon free time" - except for Wednesday when the entire retreat group heads out for the Island Snorkeling Excursion)

• This is Retreat # 1 – part of a yearlong training program, which takes place at Haramara. The training program must be taken sequentially, and cannot be attended out of order. Completion of each session is a prerequisite for the next session. Hours and Credits will recorded towards "yoga teacher certification" for those registered in the Baptiste Power of Yoga Teachers Training Program.
