HARAMARA is a sacred Huichol word for “Mother Sea.” and once there you quickly recognize the feminine spirit of this retreat center. One of the most sacred of all Huichol Mountains is visible from the Yoga and Meditation room at Haramara with 360 degree view. The beaches that surround Haramara are beautiful and secluded. The Pacific Ocean water is inviting to swim in; the sandy beaches are private, expansive and very special. The beach vista with the backdrop of mountains and jungle terrain descending to the sea, along with the many fascinating rock formations, make the ocean setting quite dramatic. Their swimming pool is scheduled to be built by the time we visit.

Once you get to Haramara, you may not wish to leave, except for a nice afternoon walk down quiet jungle trails to nearby Sayulita, a quaint, picturesque fishing village with a vibrant, active town square. The Sayulita ocean area is an ecologically protected zone. The surf that breaks in front of the village is world renown and surfboards are available to rent. In addition, there are lots of small shops to visit and streets to explore. It is easy to find a taxi in front of the local ice cream shop for a short ride back to Haramara.
