  • Power of Present Moment: We spend most of our lives looking for something, some magical power. Yet in doing so we separate ourselves from the greatest magic of all, the present moment. While there are meditation practices to develop Siddhis and supernormal powers Zen reminds us of the magic in the normal. As an old saying puts it “What are my magical powers? I chop wood and carry water.” The goal of practice is simply to be present, or to simply be. Zen and Yoga, through their many forms, clearly point us to the present moment and offer us practices to enter the present. The magic of the present moment is that in it the universe is whole.
  • Practice Session: Zen and the Art of Being Present. This session will consist of instruction in zazen (sitting zen) and kinhin (walking meditation) as well as their practice. And we will explore through dialogue and practice some of the Zen forms in the context of being present and discover how Zen and Yoga can help us appreciate being ‘not two, not one’.
  • Long Term Benefits:
Reduce Stress and Anxiety, Improved Clarity of Mind, Supportive in Reducing Depression, Better Sleep, Higher Self Confidence, Inner Trust, Spiritual Connection.

Special Guest Musician: Sacred Sound Meditation
Shanti Shivani
will be gracing us with a beautiful enlightening evening session, internationally acclaimed teacher, vocalist and sound healer Shanti Shivani will sing a North Indian classical raga (musical mode) in the ancient Dhrupad style to set up a sacred space that allows the listeners to let go of the chattering mind and rest in the heart where they can experience Oneness with the Divine. During the second half of the evening the listeners will be invited to participate in call-and-response chanting of sacred mantras from various traditions. Kirtan is the name for devotional chanting. Shanti Shivani is one of the few Western pioneers bringing the sacred traditions of Nada Yoga and Dhrupad, the most ancient style of Hindustani classical music, to the West.
